part I

Not so far off-shore, about thirty kilometers out to sea, tectonic plates shifted. The shift was enough to cause a strong earthquake that was felt for kilometers.

part II

The shockwave of the tremor shook coastal residential areas up into the highlands causing several landslides.

part III

Following the earthquake, a thirty foot tsunami hit one coastal town causing major damage, and many fatalities. That town has now been left flooded and mostly abandoned. The few people who remain are isolated, however, rescue workers are doing their best to locate those stranded.
